Trauma Informed Couples Counselling
Every relationship experiences challenges. You may find yourselves having the same arguments over and over again, struggling to communicate without conflict, feeling emotionally distant, or wondering how you ended up feeling so disconnected from the person you once felt closest to. Perhaps trust has been damaged, life has placed pressures on your relationship, or past experiences are making it difficult to feel understood and secure with one another.
Whatever has brought you to this point, seeking support is not a sign that your relationship has failed. It is an opportunity to better understand one another and begin creating a different way forward together.
Relationship psychotherapy provides a safe, compassionate and impartial space where both partners can feel heard and understood. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we explore the relationship itself—understanding the experiences, emotions and patterns that have developed between you. Together, we make sense of these patterns, improve communication, strengthen emotional connection and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.
My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on Psychodynamic Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). We will explore how each of your individual life experiences, attachment patterns and emotional needs may be influencing your relationship today. As you begin to understand yourselves and each other more deeply, it often becomes easier to respond with greater empathy, compassion and understanding, creating the foundations for meaningful and lasting change.
Sessions are available in person from my welcoming therapy room in Berryfields, Aylesbury HP18 0XN, or from Aylesbury Therapy, 15 Temple Street, Aylesbury, HP20 2RN.
